As India Pharma Inc continues to expand and progress, elevating its position in the global pharma market necessitates an environment which fosters innovation, facilitates collaborative strategies and newer operating business models. And, this calls for concerted efforts from all stakeholders of the industry.
So, the overarching theme for this year's 'Pharma Summits' is 'Co-creating an ecosystem for pharma innovation'.
Organised by Express Pharma, these events will explore and examine factors influencing the pharma ecosystem and focus on crucial areas such as cost competitiveness, advancements in scientific research, creating new capabilities and skills, adapting to new regulations, leveraging emerging technologies for better outcomes etc.
The Sixth pharma summit of the year is the Chennai Pharma Summit, following the success of Vadodara Pharma Summit in October, Goa Pharma Summit in September, Aurangabad Pharma Summit in August, Bengaluru Pharma Summit in June, and the Ahmedabad Pharma Summit in April of FY 2024 –25.
Tamil Nadu’s pharmaceutical sector is undergoing a dynamic transformation, with Chennai at the core of these advancements. With a rich legacy in pharma education and manufacturing, the state is positioned to reclaim its leadership within India’s pharma industry. Today, it is home to over 400 licensed pharma units, primarily MSMEs engaged in contract manufacturing, the state is making significant strides to enhance its role in this high-growth sector with immense potential.
One of the most promising developments is the upcoming Pharma Park at Tindivanam in Villupuram district. This facility, spanning 111 acres, is set to host nearly 40 pharma units. Out of these, approximately 10-15 will be new entrants venturing into state for the first time, while the remaining will be expansion projects from companies already established in the state. This park is anticipated to generate pharmaceutical products worth `2,000 crore annually, marking a significant milestone in the state’s production capacity.
Additionally, the state government has also launched the Research & Development Policy 2022 and the Life Sciences Promotion Policy 2022, aiming to attract `20,000 crore in investment and create 50,000 jobs by 2030. It is also setting up a 350-acre medical devices park at the SIPCOT industrial complex in Oragadam, in Kancheepuram district poised to attract investments of `3,500 crore, further reinforcing the ecosystem for life sciences innovation in the state.
As part of this growth narrative, Express Pharma is organising the inaugural edition of “Chennai Pharma Summit’s” on December 20, 2024, at Chennai.
As Tamil Nadu aims to reclaim its leadership position in India’s pharma sector and propel forward as a key player in the global life sciences industry. The Chennai Pharma Summit promises to be an informative as well as knowledge driven conference, fostering collaboration, ideal knowledge exchange platform, and strategic insights sharing forum for like minded experts.
